Chinese

• Python Chinese User Group and mailing list.
• One Day of IDLE Toying in Chinese
• Python book reviews, translated into Chinese. The English originals were written by David Mertz.
• ChinesePython is a port of the Python language into Chinese (using Unicode). This is not just a translation of documentation, all keywords have been translated into Chinese, too. The project also has a Chinese Wiki.
• Wesley Chun's Core Python Programming is now available in Chinese! (China Machine Press, August 2001, 518 pp.)
• The Python Tutorial was translated by Harry Chou.
• Dive Into Python, a free Python tutorial for experienced programmers, has been translated into Chinese by limodou. Read it online or download it.

Croatian

• There is a Python tutorial in Croatian, written by Nikola Plejic. Three parts are available: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4.

Czech

• Ucebnice jazyka Python (aneb Létající cirkus) is a translation of the standard Python Tutorial.
• Jak se nauèit programovat is a translation of Alan Gauld's Learning to Program.

Dutch

• Python Tutorial is a translation of Guido's original Python Tutorial (translated by Lidwine van As).
• Eén dagje spelen met IDLE is a translation of Danny Yoo's One Day of IDLE Toying (translated by Mark Lambrecht).

Esperanto

• A Python tutorial in Esperanto by Bill Harris.

French

• AFPY - Association Francophone PYthon, a French-speaking Python users' group.
• There is a wiki for French-speaking Python users.
• Cours de programmation Python, by Gérard Swinnen. This document is partly and adaptation and translation of Downey & Elkner's How to Think Like a Computer Scientist, and partly original material.
• Une journée avec IDLE is a French translation of Danny Yoo's One Day of IDLE Toying, translated by Yannick Gobin.
• The French company Logilab offers a Python course in French.
• Python & Compagnie, a French-language forum for beginners, is available.
• A team of French-speaking translators of the python official documentation is very active, and has set up a project on SourceForge: http://frpython.sourceforge.net. Contributors are of course allways welcome. The result of their efforts and current status can be found here.
• Python Blanc Bleu Belge is a page of Python news and information maintained by the Belgian Free Software Programmers Club.
• Learning Python, by Mark Lutz and David Ascher, has now been translated into French by Olivier Berger, Sébastien Tanguy and Jérôme Kalifa. It's in French bookstores as Introduction à Python.
• Tutoriel Python, a tutorial written by Jérôme Tschanz.
• First French Python Day - May 28 1999, near Paris. Organized by PSA member ONERA. Some resources:
  • Slides of Guido van Rossum's talk (PowerPoint, in English).
  • Slides of Aaron Watters' talk (HTML, in English). (PowerPoint, code)
  • Slides of Stefane Fermigier's talk (HTML, in French).

• At Olivier Berger's Python site you'll find various packagings of a French translation of the Python tutorial, including:
  • an online HTML version,
  • tar.gz and zip archives of it, and
  • dvi and postscript renderings.
  • Also, his translation of Magnus Hetland's Instant Python.

• Einstieg in Python, by Thomas Theis, is a German book teaching Python for beginners. Published by Galileo Press.

• German Python Board A German Python Board for Python programmers.. The first German board for newbies and all others!
• Python - kurz & gut, 2. Auflage. The German translation (by Dinu Gherman & Christian Tismer) of Mark Lutz's Python Pocket Reference covers Python 2.2. O'Reilly Germany.
• Python & XML is the translation of Python and XML by Christopher A. Jones & Fred L. Drake, Jr. into German by Dinu Gherman. O'Reilly Germany.

Hungarian

Indonesian

• Tutorial Python is a translation of the tutorial which is found in the standard documentation package.
• Tutorial PyGTK 2, by Mige Harimurti, describes how to use PyGTK 2.
• Satu Hari bermain dengan IDLE, a translation of Danny Yoo's One Day of IDLE Toying by I Wayan Wandira.
• Komunitas Python Indonesia is the Indonesian Python community site.

Italian

• The Italian Python Web site is maintained by Marco Buzzo. Very comprehensive, with much original material.
• An Italian newsgroup, free.it.python, has been created. The newgroup is gated to the mailing list:

• Alex Martelli maintains another Italian Python website, including translations of Magnus Hetland's articles (with permission).

Japanese

• Python book reviews, translated into Japanese from English originals by David Mertz.
• PyJUG - Python Japan Users Group. This maintains the Japanese Python mailing list
• Alan Gauld's Learn to Program using Python is available in Japanese.
• Learning Python by Mark Lutz and David Ascher is available in Japanese translation.
• Programming Python has been translated to Japanese, and has been published in two volumes (vol.1, vol.2).
• The Python Pocket Reference has been translated as well.
• Junichi Suzuki wrote a series of articles concerning Python for the Japanese edition of Doctor Dobb's Journal.
• The Japanese Translation Project provides translations of the standard documentation. (Downloads)

Korean

• Wesley Chun's Core Python Programming is now available in Korean!
• Learn to Program using Python is a Koream translation of Alan Gauld's online tutorial.
• Korean translation of the Python Tutorial provided by Man-Yong Lee.
• Korean PyGTK Tutorial, also by Man-Yong Lee.
• Python Web site in Korean, including a variety of new and translated documentation as well as a mirror of the standard documentation in English. Written and maintained by Gang Seong Lee.

Portuguese

• There is a four-part tutorial and a few other resources in Brazilan Portuguese at this site.
• Introdução a Python - Módulo A is a Python tutorial written by Josué Labaki.
• HOWTO Programando com Socket is Maxweel S. Carmo's translation of Gordon McMillan's Socket Programming HOWTO.
• Maior Portal Wiki Brasileiro de Python. (Python Brasil is a wiki that provides various Python resources in Portuguese.)
• Interpretador/Compilador Python (PDF), by Eduardo Bastos and Juliano Freitas. Published in II Congresso Simulado de Compiladores (CONSICO)/UCPel.
• Implementando Grafos em Python, translated into Brazillian Portuguese by Flávio Codeço Coelho.
• Python na prática ("Python in Practice"), by Christian Reis, is an introduction to Python in Brazilian Portuguese. (Also in PDF and PostScript).
• Python-Brasil is a mailing list for Python users who speak Brazilian Portuguese. (This list replaces the old Python-BR list.)
• O ABC do IDLE - a gentle introduction to IDLE (Danny Yoo's One Day of IDLE Toying, translated by Fernando Manaças Ferreira).
• Aprendendo a Programar is a partial translation of Alan Gauld's Learning to Program.
• Translation of Python 2.1 tutorial into Brazilian Portuguese.
• A Portuguese translation of the Instant Python, a 6-page minimal crash course by Magnus Lie Hetland. (Provided by Wanderlei Antonio Cavassin.)
• A presentation based on the Python Reference Manual (but not a translation) made by Marcelo Pereira Nunes to his local Special Interest Group on Programing Languages (GRULING).
• Luciano Ramalho has made available his Aprenda a Programar (Learn to Program) primer, written especially for non-programmers.

Romanian

• Tutorial Python 2.2 is the translation of the Python Tutorial by GvR et al. into Romanian by Mihai Matei Gheorghe and Aurelian Coman.

Russian

• Russian Python & Zope User Group. See also their mailing list, including archive and search.
• A Python tutorial in Russian is available, with additional information about built-in functions, CGI programming, and exercises.
• General Python information in the Russian language provided by Zaur Shibzoukhov.
• A Russian translation of the Python Tutorial by Sultanbek Tezadov. Here is an an alternate location for the translation.
• Sultanbek Tezadov has also made translations of the Python essays to Russian available.
• Python Learning Complex is Vadim Zaitsev's thesis paper.

Slovak

• Základy programovacieho jazyka Python -- original documentation for Python in Slovak, by Milan Toma. This includes the basics of programming in Python, from the print statement to object-oriented programming.
